Wikirectory:The perfect article
From Wikirectory
A perfect Wikirectory article...
- Starts with a clear description of the website. It gives the reader a balanced overview of what the site is about, and leads them into the rest of the article. Don't put excessive detail in the first paragraph.
- is understandable. It gives a clear understanding of the website for both industry professionals and the layperson.
- is nearly self-contained. It should have all applicable information right in the article including tables, charts and images if necessary to explain the website.
- branches out. The article should contain wikilinks to other Wikirectory articles and related websites.
- is neutral and unbiased. Wikirectory articles should give the reader a balanced view of the website. If there are controversies, all angles of the controversy should be explored.
- is of appropriate length. An article that is 5 sentences long cannot give the reader any great revelatory knowledge. The article should be long enough to thoroughly deal with the subject at hand. It should be broken up into appropriate subheadings as well.
- reflects expert knowledge. If you're writing about your own site or another site that you are deeply knowledgeable about, let it be reflected in the article.
- is precise and explicit Keep all vague half-truths and promotional language out of the article.
- includes informative and relevant images Use what's necessary to explain the site, including maps, graphs, tables, pie charts, photographs, artworks etc.
- is grammatically and orthographically correct. In other words, use full sentences and spell words right.
Of course, you might not be able to create the perfect article on your very first try. That's why this is a Wiki. It can be edited by anyone who thinks they can improve on an article.
